One of the goofiest radiographs I have.  This is a small-breed dog who is grossly obese and also exhibits a collapsing trachea.  Gas is radiolucent, meaning that it shows dark grey to black on radiographs; hence the trachea is usually easily visible on its passage from the larynx to the bronchial tree.  In this dog, you can see it narrowing suddenly.  This dog likely had a honking cough that worsened with exercise, excitement, or leash walks with a collar.  The first line of treatment is to get the dog a harness for walks, start a weight loss regimen, and make sure the dog avoids strenuous exercise.
